Oakhill Vocals

Oakhill Vocals is a small fun and informal singing group based in the village. We meet for rehearsals (and refreshments) at 8pm most term-time Tuesdays in the back-room of the Oakhill Inn. We’re a lively and friendly group and are often invited to perform at village events, such as the Village Festival, a ‘Music from the Movies’ evening and recently ‘Beer & Carols’ in the Village Hall. We cover all types of music from WW2 classics at Remembrance Service, to Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, Blondie’s ‘Heart of Glass’ or the bawdy Fairytale of New York.

The ability to read music isn’t a necessity as we often distribute lyrics sheets and MP3 recordings for practise. We have trouble persuading men to stretch their vocal cords and would love any tenor or bass voices to join our ‘chaps section’. As we’re looking to plan more local performances for 2019, if you’ve a decent voice, love to sing and socialise, please do come along one Tuesday and say ‘hello’!
